Assigned as Officer in Charge of Coast Guard Station Wrightsville Beach NC, Station Fort Macon NC, Station Emerald Isle NC, Station Philadelphia PA, and Station Salem NJ. Oversee all aspects of mission execution of multi mission station. Managed training and education of unit personnel to meet mission goals. Oversaw spending of annual budget, training of 42 unit personnel, inspection and maintenance of two 25 foot response boats and two 47 foot motor lifeboats, inspection and maintenance of station office building, maintenance buildings, and grounds. Provide oversight to property custodians to ensure accountability while monitoring functionality and determining the need for survey and disposal of government property. Ensure security of facilities through visitor control procedures, log books, inspection of perimeter fencing to ensure Physical Security Measures are met. Provide training and oversee execution of unit missions of Homeland Security, Search and Rescue (SAR), Inspection of random vessels for adherence to Federal Laws and Regulations, Boating Safety, and community outreach. Conduct regular federal, state, and local multi-agency operations and outreach programs. Draft responses to Congressional Inquiries and provide final edit to news agencies and technical organizations. Conduct speeches for various civic organizations. Provide verbal and practical instruction to peers and subordinates. Ensured all OSHA, EPA, and NFPA guidelines are adhered to during day to day operations as they apply to fuel storage facilities, hazardous waste storage, personnel protection programs, hazard identification, and mishap prevention. Promulgated programs, inspected, and trained personnel regarding Safety and Occupational Health Programs such as Confined Space Entry, Hazard Communication Program (HAZCOM), Hearing Conservation Program, Tagout Program, Occupational Medical Surveillance, Pre-mishap Plan, Respiratory Protection Program, Crew Endurance Management, Electrical Safety and Motor Vehicle Safety. Conduct regular inspections of fire alarms using canned smoke and pull boxes, magnetic release fire doors, machinery for guards and shields.
