Responsibilities:
•Cooperate with foreign Naval officers, government
officials and port authorities in planning and executing
surveys of foreign territorial waters
•Collect and analyze survey data including singlebeam,
multibeam, and side scan sonar, tide gauge and sound
velocity data, bottom sediment, and positions of ATONs,
wrecks, and obstructions
•Utilize GPS and satellite imagery to map shorelines, port
facilities, piers, jettys, roads and other structures
•Manage and prioritize survey data collection to maximize
efficiency and ensure International Hydrographic
Organization standards are met
•Create safety of navigation and specialty GIS products for
use by host nation and US Naval forces
•Produce datasets for National Geospatial Intelligence
Agency to update charts
•Inspect all GIS products generated by Fleet Survey Team
for adherence to specifications and agreement with survey
data
•Review reports of survey for accuracy and agreement with
associated chart products

•Sep-Nov 04 – MBES/physical oceanography of East China Sea
in support of joint exercise between Japanese and US Navies
•Sep 04 – MBES survey in Yellow Sea to locate a lost sonar
array
•Jan-Feb 05 – SBES/SSS of Banda Aceh, Indonesia for safety
of navigation and beach reconnaissance in support of
tsunami relief effort
•Sep-Oct 05 – SBES/SSS of Pearl River, MS shipping channel
for safety of navigation following Hurricane Katrina
•Jan-Mar 06 – SBES/SSS and mapping of Port of Djibouti,
Djibouti to update existing chart and map a new fuel pier
