Current Duties & Responsibilities:

As a Hydrographic Surveyor (National Hydrographic Office of Sri Lanka) I am responsible for the planning & conducting of all Bathymetric surveys and related Topographic Surveys and producing sea charts and survey plans under the National Nautical Charting Program & other special Surveys.

Preparation survey reports.

Under My supervision the following surveys have been conducted.

• National Nautical Charts Programme

• Tangall, Galle, Hambanthota Chart (Southern Coast Belt of Sri Lanka)

• Colombo Port & its new approaches ( Under Colombo Ports Southern Expansion Project)-2008

Break water construction, underwater pipe Laying, Barge Positioning and Excavator positioning

Research conducted

Accuracy Assessment of line features in 1:10000 map produced by the Survey

Department and the most appropriate GPS for capture data for update 1:10000 map.

(Low accurate, medium accurate and high accurate GPS were used for this research.)

(Used Software are ArcGIS, ERDAS Imaging and Related software with GPS)

Educational Qualifications:

• B.Sc ( Surveying Science ) Special

(Degree included Hydrographic Surveying, Land Surveying, Engineering Surveying, Construction Surveying, Cartography, Geodesy and GPS and GIS, Traingulation Practical Task)

Professional Qualification:

• Assistant Hydrographer

I have done Bathymetric survey for ship channel in the Mozambique straight. During the session I was used the Magneto meters and Gravity meters and ADCP for currents and oceanographic parameters

Training period was done in “Beautamps Beaupre” survey vassal in France Hydrographic Department SHOM
