- Manage and maintain craft documentation and all safety equipment
- Manage and control stores
- Manage and maintain the craft, documentation and all mandatory safety equipment to ensure the craft remains in class
- Liaise with external contractors to ensure that the maintenance and repairs are carried out with set time frames
- Perform Hydrographical duties in other ports
- Keep log sheets and reports to keep record of production and consumption of fuel.
- Steer (navigate) survey craft in home Port and on away projects to produce accurate soundings
- Navigate lines ensuring all data logged by the Hydrographer during the survey is correct.
- Towing craft locally in a “safety conscious” manner
- Supervise maintenance of craft as per schedules ensuring vessel remains in sound seaworthy condition and comply with SAMSA regulated conditions
- Travel long distance to perform hydrographic duties in other ports
- Navigate survey craft in port to produce accurate soundings
