Objective

I am seeking employment in chartering/brokering and/or operations. I wish to focus on the tanker market.

Experience

Ocean Intern: Samuel Shapiro & Company, Baltimore, MD (January 2008 to May 31, 2008)

Intern in the ocean import office of Baltimore based NVOCC, compliance consultant, customs broker, freight forwarder and shipping agents. Familiar with requests for proposals and responses, use of proprietary databases, and communicating with diverse clients from around the globe. Familiar with use of US Customs automation software (including remote filing), laws/regulations regarding importation of containers, role of Harmonized Tariff Schedule, international traffic reports, and methods of tracking inbound and outbound vessels. Analysis of complex problems and preemptive action stressed. While at Shapiro as an intern, I placed second in a branch-wide shipping knowledge contest, losing only to a 32 year industry veteran by two points.
