Former U.S. Coast Guard Port State Control Officer

Objective


Seeking employment using knowledge of SOLAS and other Int'l conventions and regulations as well as U.S. Port State Control procedures and concerns.


Experience


Over seven years experience in the U.S. Coast Guard. Over one year serving on board a 270ft Coast Guard cutter as helm, look out, and inport security. Over four years experience managing the response to oil and hazardous material incidents in Southeast Alaska as Federal On-Scene Coordinator Representative. Almost 2 years experience as Port State Control Officer obtaining full qualification in Foreign Freight Vessel Examination primarily on bulk carriers, RO-ROs, and general-dry cargo ships.


Education


Obtained an Associates Degree in general studies from Valencia Community College in Orlando, FL prior to joinng the Coast Guard.


Certification


Full ICS certifications to ICS-400. Hazardous Materials Technician Certified.


Skils


In depth knowledge of SOLAS and other Int'l conventions and regulations. Very competent in various computer software programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Excellent verbal and communication skills including international interpersonnal relations.


 


Separating from the Coast Guard early 2012. Seeking employment around the Port of Virginia area.
