Captain/Fleet Manager



• In charge of Companies four small passenger yachts ranging in size from 105’ to 145’.

• In Charge of Implementing & Maintaining the companies Safety Management System for all vessels.

• In charge of cost tracking and budget placement for vessel shipyards and lay up periods.

• In charge of creating and maintaining shipboard budget systems for all on board expenses during seasonal running periods.

• In charge of Crew Scheduling & Vessel port schedules.

• Purchasing agent for vessel hard goods, services and crew travel.

• On call to assist vessels with parts purchasing & trouble shooting during operational periods.



10/2007 to 6/2008 American Safari Cruises Seattle, WA

Refit/Design & Layouts Coordinator



• For 7 months was on board the companies’ newest vessel, the Safari Explorer, involved in the refit project.

• Duties during this refit included interior design and layouts, coordinating with the Naval Architects and the USCG for shipboard regulations and requirements. Was responsible for making sure that all changes met or exceeded current Safety Requirements for small passenger vessels.

• Worked directly with vendors getting bids, designating scope of work to be performed, insuring quality & standard & job completion.



1/2006 thru 10/2007 American Safari Cruises Seattle, WA

Captain

• Spent over two years as Captain of the 120’ SOLAS certified M/Y Safari Quest. Also spent a small portion of time on board the 105’ Safari Spirit.

• During this period was in charge of up to eight crewmembers while sailing.

• On board responsibilities included voyage planning, coordination with Glacier Bay National Park regarding scheduling, shipboard accounting, USCG Inspections and compliance, SMS documents updates and training, CDC Inspections and Compliance and dealt with NVMC and Customs during international voyages.

• During shipyard periods was in charge of schedules, budgets, maintenance reviews and Crew training prior to seasonal start up.

• Sailing experience during this time: Baja (Gulf of California), Columbia & Snake Rivers and Inside Passage BC to Alaska.



06/2001-01/2006 American Safari Cruises Seattle, WA

Mate/Engineer

• Began with company as Mate/Engineer on board the 112’ yacht Safari Explorer in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

• During an 8 month refit was responsible for ship systems updates and repairs.

• Gained knowledge over the 4 ½ years on board this vessel in areas such as: Marine Diesel upkeep and small repairs, basic knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration, MSD units maintenance & monitoring, hydraulics, pneumatics and Marine electrical systems including 12/24vdc, 115/230/415vac (single and three-phase).

• Onboard responsibilities included: Maintenance, repairs, navigational watch standing, vessel maneuvering, fueling, procurement of engineering and deck supplies prior to each season.

• Sailing experience during this time: Intercoastal Water Ways of Florida; Gulf of Mexico, Panama (including Panama Canal), Costa Rica, Baja (Gulf of California), California Wine Country, Columbia & Snake Rivers and Inside Passage BC to Alaska.



8/1999 thru 6/2001 Alaska Sightseeing/Cruise West Seattle, WA

Deckhand; Third/Second/Chief Mate



• During my time with Cruise West I sailed on board the Spirit of ’98 and Spirit of Columbia.

• My first 6 months were spent as a Deckhand on board the Spirit of ’98. Duties included exterior upkeep, minor interior repairs, hourly engine room rounds at night, and assist with navigational lookouts and watches.

• I spent the next year as 2nd and 3rd Mate aboard the Spirit of ’98 sailing in a watch standing position and was responsible for Safety inspections, USCG Inspection preparedness, Documentation updates (chart work and ISM manual updates) and training.

• My final three months were aboard the Spirit of Columbia as Chief Mate in charge of 4 deck staff and responsible for Navigational Watches and safety training.



4/1998 thru 8/1999 Atlantis Charters, LLC Huntington Beach, CA

In Water Naturalist/Deckhand/Office Manager



• During my time with Atlantis Charters I participated in all operational aspects of the Dive Charter Company.

• Began with company as a Deckhand/In Water Naturalist for their Dive trips and Educational Programs that they did with the Not for Profit company Hydrosphere.

• Duties included educating children about marine life and ocean preservation, dive tank filling and assist divers with gear and prepare their daily meals on day and overnight excursions. Also was responsible for engine rounds during the trips and minor maintenance when needed.

• As Office Manager I was responsible for the Monday through Friday operations of the booking office, including: Payroll, scheduling, advertising and booking information.

• Other duties included schedule fueling appointments, taking vessels to fuel dock, and stores procurement and loading for all departures.

2.5 yrs college at Golden West College of Huntington Beach, CA with focus on General Education, Marine Biology & Math

Vocational schooling relating to maritime industry with certifications as listed below.

500ton Oceans Master License with STCW ’95 and Unlimited Radar Endorsement

TWIC

First Aid/CPR Certified

MMD AB Special with Life Boat Certification

Previously certified: Advance Fire Fighting, Medical First Responder, Crisis Management & Human Behavior and Advanced SCUBA diver.

Am competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and XP
