Experience


Canship Ugland Ltd., St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada (August 2007 to April 2010)

Fleet Manager in complete charge of nine Canadian and Norwegian flagged crude oil shuttle tanker vessels and a bulk carrier. Successfully installed Volatile Organic Compounds Reduction Equipment for Atmospheric Emissions Control on two oil tanker vessels, each project valued at $ 1.2 million. Daily charter rate enhancement of $ 2,000 per vessel negotiated as a result of successful project execution. Management contracts with oil majors handled for fleet vessels. Senior officers interviewed, hired and assessed for the company. Biannual Senior Officers’ Conferences planned, organized and conducted.



Rigel Shipping Canada Inc., New Brunswick, Canada (January 1996 to July 2007)

Fleet Manager for a fleet of three Canadian flagged chemical and petroleum product tanker vessels, including technical, operational and financial performance, Safety and Quality Management, and profit centre operations. The Company and the vessels obtained the ISM and ISO 9002 Certification in 1997. Fifteen vessel upgrading projects successfully executed, of an average value of $ 1 million each, resulting in fuel savings, cost savings and time savings worth millions of dollars. Change of vessel registry, delegation to class, international team building and Biannual Senior Officers’ Conference projects handled for the company. Contract negotiations conducted for ten years with Ultramar Diamond Shamrock for vessel charters. Human resources hired, assessed, evaluated and rewarded.



Texaco Marine Services Inc., Port Arthur, Texas, U.S.A. (January 1990 to December 1995)

Fleet Manager and Marine Superintendent in complete charge of operations, drydocking, shipyard repairs and all functions relating to the technical and financial management and control of a group of six large, ocean-going TEXACO crude oil and product tanker ships and two F.P.S.O.’s in Nigeria. Major steel renewal and tank coating projects valued at $ 5 million each, planned and successfully executed biannually for the company. Led the ship owner’s team in the construction of the $ 40 million tanker Star Ohio in Samsung Shipyard, Koje Island, South Korea, which fetched a daily charter hire revenue of $ 48,000.



The Shipping Corporation of India, Bombay, India (February 1974 to April 1989)

Technical Superintendent from October 1986 to April 1989, in complete charge of planning, budgeting, organizing, cost-control, supervision, coordination and all functions relating to the technical and financial management and control of a group of five large, ocean-going crude oil and product tanker ships. Shipboard Marine Engineer from 1974 to 1986, aboard tanker, bulk-carrier and passenger vessels. Chief Engineer Officer since 1982. Supervised the construction of the $ 36 million tanker Havildar Abdul Hamid PVC in Hyundai Shipyard, Ulsan, South Korea. Introduced five new ships into the fleet, each earning $ 45,000 daily.
