Responsibilities:



Maintained provision consumption and monthly stock onboard and generate new provisions acquisition list.

Took care of Fire Fighting Appliances and Safety Equipment onboard.

Supervised the crew’s medical problems, provided appropriate treatment and medicine when required, made appointments for shore medical support if needed.

Created the ship passage plan between ports destinations using GPS, VHF units.

Maintained all the communication and navigational equipments such as: Inmarsat A and C, GPS, Radars, VHFs, etc.

Maintained communication logs between ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore via Inmarsat A, C including periodically proper testing of onboard equipment.

As a communication officer I offered regular training of crew members in using Inmarsat terminals for emergency purposes (e.g. ship-to-shore testing and waiting for acknowledge, posting flow chart procedures).

Ensured continuous private communication via Inmarsat A and C (e.g faxes, telexes, radio-telexes) between crew members and their families, keeping the logs and monitoring the calls costs directly with the cost station or through the Marconi Corp.

Coordinated vessel’s operations during ports stay and between ports (e.g. loading/discharging operations, provisions, inspections, maintenance, quality and safety assurance/meetings, etc.).

Prepared and processed the ship’s goods inventory and slops-chest for the crew.

Good administration and excellent use of the ship documents and files.

Handled duties, which included: filling, writing and preparing reports and documents (eg. stock monthly report, monthly stock medicine onboard, daily weather reports, and so forth).

Conducted monthly meetings regarding quality and safety procedures to be followed onboard the vessel.

Utilized computers for Word and Excel processing and statistical analysis.

As a Port Inspector my main responsibilities are to measure, analyze and verify for quantity and quality representative product from bulk storage tanks, tankers, cargo ships, barges, shore storage and transfer facilities, railcars and warehouses.
