Alcatraz Cruises Ferry Service 2010- Present
Position: First officer on ferry vessels in the San Francisco Bay. 50-100ton vessels
Duties: Assist captain with navigation, AIS and radar. Perform underway engine room checks. Conduct crew safety training drills. Delegate watch quarter and emergency station bill assignments and serve as the incident commander on-scene during emergencies. Log and report vessel maintenance issues to appropriate departments
Handle lines, oversee fueling and sewage pumping operations, operate hoist for passenger ramp.
Ensure shipboard safety and security of passengers. Learn and follow new procedures for novel hybrid vessel technology. Implement company policy to maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
Endangered Encounters 2006-2010
Position: General Manager and captain of M/V Proteus, a 10x4 meter 500hp catamaran located in The Kingdom of Tonga.
Duties: Manage all crew hiring and scheduling. Train and conduct crew performance evaluations. Schedule and execute annual vessel inspections. Calculate company spending budget and present profit/loss statements to shareholders. Responsible for the planning and operation of passenger ocean excursions. Navigate through shallow reef channels using GPS and charts. Log engine hours and mileage to monitor and ensure vessel fitness. Handle lines and anchoring operations. Ensure guest safety on the vessel and in the water. Follow proper sewage disposal and safe fueling practices. Drive tender. Perform vessel maintenance including annual engine and leg oil changes, fuel, oil filter, spark plug and belt changes, and keeping all parts greased and oiled for optimal performance. Keep all marine safety equipment in good condition and up to date.
