PHILADELPHIA FIRE DEPARTMENT, PHILADELPHIA, PA



2005 – 2008 CAPTAIN, ENGINE 64

Responsible for directing station operations, record keeping and accountability, Interacts with the community at large in order to develop and execute safety initiatives, including programs and fire prevention strategies. Manages and trains personnel. Procures supplies and equipment. Responsible for the coordination and deployment of responding companies at emergency scenes.



2003 - 2005 EQUIPMENT OFFICER

Responsible for overseeing all city fire department contracts and administering annual contract budgets from $10k - $1M+. Developed procurement specifications, incorporating national industry standards. Reported written and oral reports to senior staff. Task environment included interacting with corporate representatives both nationally and internationally. Maintained up-to-date safety procedures/equipment to ensure safety compliance. Collaborated with vendors to provide cost effective, cutting edge technology. Created and implemented equipment controls by utilizing inter-agency relationships.



2000 – 2002 INSTRUCTOR, PHILADELPHIA FIRE ACADEMY

Responsible for recruit training within critical cross-functional group assignments. Collaborated with staff officers to develop courses for recruitment, training, and emergency vehicle operations with a particular emphasis on safety and accountability.



1995 – 2000 FIRE LIEUTENANT

Responsible for coordinating engine and ladder companies during emergency situations. Supported training/development procedures for junior personnel. Executed firefighting fire prevention, and safety initiatives. Liaised with community leaders to identify fire detection and prevention needs and develop solutions. Previously served as an EMT, providing emergency medical care, operating pumpers and overseeing search and rescue teams; managed fire suppression and emergency abatement efforts.
