• March 2013 to present:  Pilot (Pilot Trainer); First ClassPilot on run from SE Alaska to Puget sound; Relief Master
• December 2006 to March 2013:  Chief Mater & First ClassPilot  on the 400’ MATANUSKA; Relief Master
• February 2005 to December 2006:  First Class Pilot; 2nd Mate on the 400’ MATANUSKA; 500 passengers
• Author/Illustrator. 2012, published the professionalmaritime book Wrangell Narrows at a Glance(www.wrangellnarrows.com). Piloting the most difficult body of waterway in the world, Wrangell Narrows.

2000 – 2005​Freelance Mariner

• On Call as Master or Mate: Sailed with SCRIPs; relief trips for Woods Hole and Oregon State University.  Also, fished the Bering Sea and Coastal Freighters.

1998 - 2000​Master, Delta Queen Steamboat Company

• Captain of the Cruise ship COLUMBIA QUEEN on the Columbia and Snake Rivers. 200 passengers and crew.
• Initially hired as a consultant to convert a casino boat into overnight passenger vessel for the Columbia River.

1996 – 1998​Master, American West Steamboat Company

• Captain of the Cruise ship QUEEN OF THE WEST on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.  200 passengers and crew.

1992 – 1996​Freelance Mariner

• On call as Master or Chief Mate Deck aboard Fishing vessels, Freighters, Tug boats and deliveries.

1990 – 1992​Master, Alaska Frontier Co.

• Bering Sea Freezer Longliner; Crew of 23 -30.

1983 – 1989​United States Coast Guard

Quartermaster (Navigator and Conning Officer) aboard the Icebreaker POLAR STAR, and the Patrol boats, POINT WHITEHORN and MATAGORDA.  Stationed in the Caribbean and Seattle.  Sailed every ocean in the world, including two austral summers in Antarctica (6 month voyages), and the Arctic.

1978 – 1983​Walt Disney World, Florida

Pilot aboard small ferry and transport vessels.  Emphasis on Boat Handling and Public Relations.

• Federal Pilot of Puget Sound:  Includes Straits of Georgia, North Rosario Strait and Bellingham Bay
