Objective


Obtain a position which will utilize my skills and extensive experience in aluminum fabrication and supervision.

September 2009 - Present

Palmer Johnson Yachts – Sturgeon Bay , WI

Fabrication Supervisor – Responsible for training and supervision of a staff of 20 welders and fabricators in the construction of 170 foot motor yachts.



August 2008 – May 2009

Palmer Johnson, UK – Southampton, England

Fabrication Supervisor/Welder Consultant – Responsible for the training and supervision of a staff of 30 welders and apprentices in the startup of this boat building division. Supervised the construction of a 50 meter motor yacht. Obtained Lloyds certification in aluminum welding.



August 2005-July 2008

Derecktor Shipyards – Bridgeport, CT

Aluminum Fabrication Supervisor – Supervised a staff of 40 in the construction of a 400 foot mega yacht. I have also supervised the construction of high speed passenger ferries, fire boats, and the largest sailing yacht constructed in the United States. Responsibilities include overseeing welding, fabrication, layout and assembly. Position requires adhering to strict quality control and time schedules.



2004-2005

Delta Stockcrates – Feilding, New Zealand

Interim position as welder/fabricator in construction of aluminum stockcrates.



2001-2004

Wavemaster International – Henderson, Western Australia

Began my ship building experience with Wavemaster in 1980, working on and off for a period of fifteen years in relation to the companies workload. Initial responsibilities were with welding and fabrication, developing and expanding my skills to reach my final position as team supervisor.

Team Supervisor – Overseeing and training of a team of 20 fabricators, welders, and apprentices in the building of 34 metre aluminum work boats, mono hulls and catamarans. Responsibilities included construction, training, quality control of welding and hull inspection.

1999-2001

Covestar – Spearwood, Western Australia

Workshop Foreman – Building of workboats and catamarans for Singapore. Duties included supervision of approximately 50 employees, managing schedule to insure timely completion of projects, overseeing sea trials, budgeting, and ordering of materials.



1998-1999

Wavemaster International – Henderson, Western Australia

Welder, fabricator work on aluminum work boats, mono hulls and catamarans (see above).



1995 – 1998

Sea Spray Boats – Malaga, Western Australia

Fabricator – Building of 12 metre passenger boats, 12 metre catamarans, 9 metre police pursuit boats for Singapore and 40 metre work boats for Hong Kong. Position involved a three person team to build the vessel within a given time frame with incentives for early completion. Early completion was accomplished in all instances meeting all quality standards.



1992-1995

Austal Ships – Henderson, Western Australia

Welding and fabrication of 40-50 metre jet propelled catamarans. This position involved working with an innovative design plan to build in sectional pieces to construct the catamarans which resulted in a more timely construction schedule.



1990-1992

Precision Marine – Henderson, Western Australia

Welding and fabrication of 40-50 metre catamarans. The requirements of this position included full construction of the vessel with a team of workers acting as sub-contractors Position included pricing of the hulls and super structure aluminum and timely completion meeting all quality standards.



1980-1990

Wavemaster – Williton, Western Australia

Initially trained in welding of local ferries and later trained in fabrication, blueprint reading, structural components and assembly.



1977-1990

Howard Porters – Fremantle, Western Australia

Welding and framing of buses, motor coaches, fire engines, refrigeration trucks, trailer and mining equipment. This position followed my four year apprenticeship in Coach and Motor Body Building. During this time I developed into a first class welder, fitter and fabricator. I also gained experience in reading blueprints and completing projects with little or no supervision.
