Light Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic

Handles the maintenance and repair of light and heavy tactical vehicles and select armored vehicles. The Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles.

Use of applicable references, inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components such as: power plant/packs, compression ignition engines and engine fuel systems, air induction and exhaust systems and cooling systems.

Vehicle chassis and power train components including, frame cross members, clutches assemblies, transmissions, transfers, final drives, propeller shaft assemblies, brake systems and steering systems, suspensions systems, fifth wheel assemblies, wheeled vehicle crane, hoist and winch assemblies, and hydraulic systems.

Hazmat Specialist Sept 2009-July 2010

Perform weekly inventories and inspections of all HAZMAT lockers and cages

Assist in requesting, receiving, issuing and storage of HAZMAT products.

Assist in maintaining accountability of HAZMAT pharmacy Bench Stock.

Assist in preparing and submitting weekly, monthly, and quarterly HAZMAT reports as required.

Assist in managing the HAZMAT pharmacy.  Process CARP and HAZMART request as required.

Ensure safe handling of HAZMAT products and performed monthly shelf-life inspection

Service all UPRP's and dispose of all HAZMAT waste on weekly basis to DPW classification unit

Operate and maintain steam turbines and reduction gears used for ships propulsion and electrical power generation. Repair and maintenance of auxiliary machinery to include various types of steam and electrically driven pumps, oil purifiers, and desalinization plants (distilling / evaporator plants)



Detailed knowledge of

Troubleshooting, repair of various types of pumps to include:

Centrifugal / Impeller

Positive displacement rotary screw, piston, and gear

Jet AKA know as adductor both steam and water actuated

Various other types of fuel and water,

Knowledge of pumps extends to coupling alignment and mechanical seal installation

Repair and installation of limit switches, solenoids, and valves including hydraulic Inspection, test, and repair electric motors.

Inspection and cleaning of multiple type of heat exchangers (oil coolers, steam generators)

Reading technical manuals and developing scheduled maintenance and enforcing quality control programs to minimize equipment down time.

Train, test, and qualify people on operating and maintaining machinery.

Trained in the use, spill containment, cleanup, and disposal of hazardous materials.
