As the Designated Person Ashore I act as the management representative on matters of safety and environmental protection. My responsibility’s Include:
• Confirming That adequate resources and shore-based support are applied.
• Monitoring the safety and pollution prevention aspects of each ship within the fleet
• Maintaining the Safety Management System records
• (ex. NCR’s, Audit Reports, Controlled Documents, etc…)
• Preparing and updating the SMS Audit schedule
• Advising Management of the SMS concerns or issues
• A Permanent Member of the Company Safety Management Committee
• Serving as the Company Internal Safety Auditor
As the Chief Security Officer my responsibilities include, in brief amongst others:
• Ensuring that the Ship Security Assessment is properly carried out, for each ship
• Confirm that the Ship Security Plan is prepared and submitted for approval by the Flag Administration and thereafter ensuring it’s maintenance and implementation
• Advising each ship the level of threats likely to be encountered
• Ensuring adequate training for the ships crew and Officers is up-to-date
• Ensuring consistency between the SSP and the ISM
