Position: Head Hunter
While working with Damicoship India Pvt. Ltd. I experienced that there is no flexibility on types of vessels & a strict salary structure. Hence I left the job & started freelancing. Presently, I was supplying Indian Marine Officers & Engineers ( Third Officers thru Masters & Fourth Engineers thru Chief Engineers) to various ship owners & ship managers, including verification of all certificates (CoC & STCW 1995), visas, contract papers, medicals etc.
From June 2008 to July 2008
Company: Damicoship India Pvt Ltd (Ship Owners)
Position: FLEET PERSONNEL MANAGER
Key tasks & Responsibilities:
- look after medicals, visas, passport renewals, STCW certificate upgradation of ex-hands,
- hunting of new hands for the expanding fleet in consultation with Mumbai office,
- interview of new candidates,
- pre-joining briefing of company policies & regulations,
- preparing office budget,
- full office administration,
- keep track of expenses incurred towards medicals & travel expenses etc.
From December 2007 thru June 2008
Company: Fleet Management, Hong Kong
Position: HEAD HUNTER, KOLKATA OFFICE
Key tasks & Responsibilities:
- liaise with Mumbai office in controlling Human Resource for more than 200 ships,
- inducting new both deck & engine officers for the expanding fleet,
- preparing of Officer’s Data of respective candidates for approval,
- initial accustomising new candidates with company policies & regulations,
- initial filtering / interview of suitable candidates,
- preparing of initial joining papers including different visas,online company courses and,
- final preparing of enjoined candidate’s file system at Kolkata & Mumbai office.
11 Years of Sea Experience (From October 1996 thru July 2007) in various capacities of Radio-Officer, Electronics Communications Officer, IT Manager, Finance Officer
- the daily communications needs of the ship by operating the GMDSS equipments at the order of the master,
- repair & maintenance of all electronic & electrical Bridge equipments,
- keeping communications station & Bridge equipments in perfectly working conditions for surveys including Port State Control.
- I had to undertake liasing with the ship’s agents at different ports, on master’s advice, for Customs & Immigration Clearance of the ship,
- going thoroughly with the crew for abiding by the STCW 1995 regulations,
- updating individual crew members for their respective STCW 1995 courses,
- crew monthly payrolls,
- crew monthly allotment to their respective bank accounts,
- crew sign on / sign off & their eventual repatriation back to home.
- Ensuring that watch keeping routines are in compliance with the Master’s instruction
- Responsible for the communication room and communication traffic operation of phone calls, faxes, data files on behalf of the company, passengers and crew.
- Responsible for the tidiness in the communication room including ensuring that all equipment is fully operational
- Responsible for accounting requirements for crew communication
- Preventing defrauding of the Company by restricting unauthorised use of communications systems
- Ensuring confidentiality by enforcing the Communications Room as a “Restricted Access Area”
- Responsible for his own full knowledge of operation of all GMDSS equipment on board, especially Distress and Safety procedures, and location principles and operation of SART and EPIRB
- To be ready to attend to any communication duties on the Bridge whenever required
- In addition to the listed responsibilities above, various office work was delegated by the Master, Staff Captain and Chief Engineer as required
- train Crew Purser with the daily jobs regarding the crew matters like crew monthly payrolls, crew sign on / sign off & their eventual repatriation back to home, STCW 1995 certifications for crew,
- checking of monthly crew salary accounts of Crew Purser,
- paying off crew salary through Crew Purser,
- paying off ship chandlers against provision supply,
- accounting & stock taking of provisions,
- maintain proper & transparent daily accounts of cash transactions.
- maintain & repair the ship’s MTN satellite & Inmarsat communication system,
- maintain & repair ship’s digital & analogue telephone central,
- maintain & repair ship’s pager, PA, TV, UHF system,
- trouble shooting of ship’s wireless Internet & much more.
- maintain the ship’s Inmarsat communication system & other Bridge navigational equipments,
- maintain ship’s digital telephone central
- maintain ship’s computer servers, computer networks & satellite TV system &,
- putting up passenger embarkation stations & additionally helping Purser for guest’s check-in.
- maintain the ship’s Inmarsat communication system & all Bridge navigational equipments,
- maintain ship’s computer servers including ASI.
