Research Assistant at NJIT October 2009 – May 2010

Project title: Dewatering of water treatment sludge by freezing and thawing

The project in collaboration with Passaic Valley Sewage commission is aimed at treatment of sludge for all water treatment plants. Virtually all treatment processes produce sludge and its treatment is an important part of all water treatment processes. The most important issues in sludge dewatering are: dryness, dewatering speed, and filtrate quality

Responsibilities:

• Collecting the sludge sample from water treatment plant.

• Analyze for its dewater-ability by continuous freezing and thawing.

• Documentation and Knowledge Management activities.



Project title: Environmental Impact Statement on Modernization of Bayonne Bridge.

Role: Vice-president (Team of 7), spring 2009, NJIT

Prepared a draft EIS on the modernization of Bayonne Bridge concerned with the local environment, neighborhood, cost effectiveness, and time. This project aims at modifying the existing 151 feet height Bayonne Bridge to 185 feet which allows huge cargo carrying ships to pass through the bridge to Port Elizabeth. The team came up with three alternatives and proposed an EIS to Port Authority of NY and NJ. The EIS was prepared under NEPA process.



Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI): December 2006 – April 2007

Project Assistant: Analyzed the degradation of Quinalphos pesticide in soil and water by performing many tests like Rotary flash evaporator test to concentrate the sample, clean up procedure for color removal , liquid-liquid partition test to check for the adsorptive capacity of the soil.
