Entry level work on a vessel or portside

Objective


Serve on a vessel and gain maritime experience, enter the ship/yacht design field as an entry level engineer, work dockside, violinist for ship-board events. Open to varied prospects.

Violin Teacher/Violinist (January 2005 to September 2006, and September 2007)

Gave individual violin lessons to players of all ages. Currently still a freelance violinist.

Wilma H. Scheirmeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park (ORWRP) (OSU), Columbus, OH

Site Engineer (June 2008 to present, with break during work at Wright Patterson AFB)

Previously: Calibration of water quality data sensors

Assist graduate students with sampling and collection of specimens and data in wetlands

Repairs to ORWRP structures, and many numerous misc. assigned tasks.

Currently: On demand design engineer for projects at ORWRP

Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH

Student Trainee working in ASC/XR, the conceptual design department of the Aeronautical Systems Center (June 18, 2009-September 15, 2009)

Tasked with teaching myself the ins and outs of a level zero airplane design code, learning the language (Python in an Eclipse environment) as well as Object Oriented Programming, in order to brief supervisor and other relevant parties of the usefulness and ease of use of the code for their future reference.

Some C++, Python, MATLAB, Autodesk Inventor Professional 10, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint,

Some experience in Object Oriented Programming using Python in an Eclipse IDE. Can learn required computer programs if not already known. Other skills include photography, woodburning, drawing, violin (15 years playing experience), excellent people skills for the workplace.
