Objective
My objectives are to gain a temporary position through a reputable employer and
gain experience in a maritime position on a sea going vessel.
Experience
As of now, I qualify with a MMD (merchant marine's document)
My work is experience is limited in the maritime industry, however I have experience and skills I acquired in various other jobs that are useful and come in handy.
As of now, I am a honorable discharged veteran of the US Army.
I was enlisted for 3 years and served as a supply clerk or material management assistant in Korea and Ft. Jackson South Carolina. This experience did not give me experience in directly dealing with the seafaring industry, however there are similarities that would make my transition into the maritime field smooth and easy. I know how to keep watch, fill out accurate laws, am able to handle and learn quickly through training drills, and used to being away from home for long periods of time and prefer it. I know the command structure in a commercial fleet is based on a rank structure similar to the military and requires similar discipline, so to this I will be able to adjust quickly to and thrive under. My supply experience should be used in positions that need some one to keep accountability of materials, budgets and various equipment if an employer so desires. I also have 2 years experience in FT Jackson South Carolina and was responsible for the welfare, performance and training up to four personnel underneath me at any one time. This has taught me responsibility and how to lead. I have a commercial driver's license and three month's experience and this has became handy in the jobs I have had since I left the Army.
