Repaired 22 minesweeping cables resulting in saving the US Navy $22 million; read and interpreted schematic diagrams; operated standard test and metering equipment; detected and located ground, open and shorted circuits in lighting, and power circuits; performed standard wire splices and soldered connections; examined motors and generators for conditions and maintenance; operated a/c and d/c generators; repaired portable electrical tools; troubleshot and repaired small boat electrical systems; maintained electrical cooking equipment.

Applied basic concepts of a/c and d/c theory to electronic and electromechanical devices and systems, power distribution systems, and internal communications systems. Lectures, practical exercises, and lab experiments covered a/c and d/c circuits, analog and digital electronics, motors and generators, power distribution systems, internal communication systems, and basic electrical maintenance. 2 semester hours in technical math, 2 in dc circuits, 2 in a/c circuits, 3 in electronics technology, and 3 in electromechanical technology.

Identified basic engineering auxiliary system components and procedures and applied principles of general industrial safety. Lectures, lab training, and practical exercises covered power plant components, safety hazards, and safe engineering practice.
