• Electrical Engineer aboard Pride of Hawaii and Pride of America
I started out with NCL by traveling to Papenburg Germany where a new ship (Pride of Hawaii) was being built. I served as a quality control engineer checking to ensure electrical systems were completed according to drawings and specifications. The electrical systems included lighting and dimmer control stations, fire alarm and detection, telephone communications, and electrical distribution. I have knowledge of all technical calculations required for electrical operations. I was part of the team that brought the ship out of the shipyard and to Honolulu Hawaii. I maintain, troubleshoot and repair all power generation and distribution equipment, i.e. generators and engine controls, switchgear and transformers, PLC’s. Assist with the maintenance and repair of other shipboard equipment such as HVAC system, refrigeration plants, communication systems, elevators, and lighting. Carry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to company policies and procedures. Read & interpret instructions and documentation to plan daily work activities. Repair, replace or new install a broad range of shipboard electrical equipment including motors and motor controls; elevator, galley, laundry, lighting and convenience outlets, steam controls, and deck mooring equipment. Complete daily/weekly/monthly records, perform various planned maintenance activities. Use shipboard computer, various electrical test equipment, drawings, to perform planned maintenance / daily work activities. Observe and follow safety rules and procedures. Play an active role in the development of safety onboard making safety a natural part of all work performed.
Kellogg, Brown, & Root (KBR) (2004 to Feb. 2006)

Coordinate and supervise the work activities of up to 10 craft personnel, materials, and equipment within the electrical discipline while adhering to budget and schedule constraints. Design and oversee the installation and maintenance of 240/480V three phase commercial electrical systems in Kirkuk, Iraq for U.S. Army. Read and interpret instructions and documentation and plan work activities. Monitor activities to ensure work is completed efficiently and the quality of workmanship meets project standards and specifications. Move materials and equipment to work locations and set up work site. Maintain, repair, and replace or install a broad range of electrical equipment and support systems in support of plant construction and maintenance activities.
