Experience

Professional Experience:

* Mechanical Design Consultant - Bastion Technologies, Lanham, Maryland (April 2009 – Dec 2009)

Specialized in top-level NASA projects under consulting contract with Bastion Technologies; a top-level NASA sub-contractor at Goddard Space Flight Center. Utilized Pro/Engineer Wildfire 3.0 to accurately design and create 3D parts and assemblies of complex laser enclosures, parts, and assemblies. Responsible for creating and revising product design drawings with extensive use of Geometric Tolerancing to meet flight specs, fit, manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance requirements. All files accurately and securely organized, stored, revised, and maintained on Goddard’s Intralink system.

* Senior Electromechanical Designer - Ballard Power Systems – College Park, Maryland (March 2008 – April 2009)

Significant member of an innovative engineering team, in a collaborative effort between a world leader in Fuel Cell Systems, a number of high technology companies, and the University of Maryland. Utilized Pro/Engineer Wildfire 3.0 and advanced solid modeling techniques to accurately design and create 3D parts and assemblies of a state- of-the-art Hydrogen Hybrid Fuel Cell System. Responsible for product design drawings, part lists, product documentation, and visual presentations. Product layouts, chassis design, enclosures, control panel components and assemblies, electrical panels and assemblies, jigs, fixtures and test apparatus. Applied engineering, design, and tolerancing methods, to ensure optimum fit, cooling, airflow, manufacturing, and maintenance requirements. Communicated with vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers in specifying and procuring materials and parts, and provided engineering support.

* Lead Electromechanical Designer - SGT Inc., Greenbelt, Maryland (August 2007 – February 2008)

Mechanical Design Lead on NASA/GSFC ELC/EGSE program’s ground testing project teams. Researched, communicated with, and recommended manufacturers, suppliers, and/or vendors to ensure accurate product selection, specifications, drawings, or CAD-models, and timely and accurate delivery of components and associated parts. Utilized Pro/Engineer Wildfire 2.0, Intralink 3.4, and advanced solid modeling techniques to accurately design and create 3D parts and assemblies of racks, enclosures, and electronic packaging of ground-testing electronic components. Prepared all related drawings, specifications, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and part and documentation numbering lists, in strict accordance with project team deadlines, NASA/GSFC procedures, geometric standards, and other requirements. Analyzed design data, and vendor parts/components received, in consideration of interference issues, manufacturing constraints, and other design factors, or errors to ensure accurate product specification, efficiency, and quality. Provided related status, and other reports to project team members and management via project team meetings, or other inter-departmental communication.

* Lead Electromechanical Designer - Orbital Sciences Corp., Greenbelt, Maryland (April 2007 – August 2007)

Please see above description of experience with SGT, Inc.

* Electromechanical Design Consultant - Knorr Brake Corporation, Westminster, Maryland (May 2001 - June 2004)

Coordinated relevant information and specifications of project goals and objectives. Worked closely with project team leaders to ensure accurate and timely completion of current projects from conception through production. Utilized Pro/Engineer CAD software and advanced solid modeling techniques to accurately design and create 3D parts, assemblies, chassis weldments, cabling, and electronic packaging for air supply units of major metropolitan mass transit locomotive braking systems. Analyzed product design data, factoring in interference issues, manufacturing constraints, stress reduction requirements, and environmental factors for maximum product efficiency. Prepared related drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material in accordance with project deadlines, budgetary requirements, and internal data management procedures and standards.

* Electromechanical Designer, Pro-E - Lockheed Martin Aerospace, Middle River, Maryland (August 1999 – April 2001)
