Position: Crane Operator / Dogman



Responsibilities:



In this role I have operated a 15 tonne mobile Franna, 20 tonne mobile Franna, minimal 30 tonne mobile crane and a 50 tonne mobile crane with extreme care and sound judgement. I've obtained the knowledge to be able to inspect jobs so as to recommend the correct vehicle for the job. I have also obtained the knowledge to create a Job Safety Analysis by using the process of Risk Management.



As a Crane operator / Dogman I have been required to:



• Safely control single and multiple crane lifts

• Operate cranes up to 60 tonne

• Identify hazards in a work situation

• Assess the risks of injury and or property damage from hazards

• Decide on control measures to eliminate injury or property damage

• Implement control measures

• Monitor and review control measures



Period: November 98 to November 2004



Employer: Royal Australian Navy



Position: Able Seaman Clearance Diver



Responsibilities:



In this role I have completed over 1300 hours of training. I have acquired the knowledge and skills to underpin the diverse range of competencies involved in operating small boats, rendering specialised first aid, handling and rendering safe a range of explosive devices, as well as a variety of underwater tasks. These activities are often performed in very complex scenarios and require extreme care and sound judgement. I have also acquired a very keen appreciation for the intricacies of team work and the excellence which can be achieved by people who can build and maintain a healthy team dynamic.



As a clearance diver I have been required to:



• Search for, identify and recover mines

• Prepare equipment for rendering a mine safe

• Assist in mine disposal and perform mine burial survey

• Carry out overt and clandestine beach surveys

• Perform underwater maintenance on ships’ hulls

• Locate, identify, and render safe unexploded ordnance

• Prepare place and initiate demolition charges

• Operate one and two compartment recompression chambers

• Protect ships and harbour installations

• Recognise diver illness and render first aid

• Coxswain a naval workboat, light utility boat and an inflatable rubber boat

• Support diving operations involving SCUBA or Surface Supply Breathing Apparatus



I have completed 30 months at sea on a Mine Hunter Coastal, travelling to Asian ports and around Australia conducting RAN exercises. I have also acted as Leading Seaman, responsible for a team of 12 people and directing ship evolutions whilst at sea (e.g. launching/recovering sea boats underway), Bridge Watch Keeping and preparations for diving operations.

In this role, I worked as part of a team of eight. My duties included:

During my time in this role I developed a reputation as a hard worker and developed positive and productive working relationships with my peers and supervisor.

Position: Store Manager



Responsibilities:



In this role I was managing the day to day running of a discount variety store. I managed eight staff and was responsible for:



• Staff induction, training and ongoing feedback

• Customer service

• Stock control

• Banking

• Register operations and Eftpos



The standards which I was able to achieve within the store earned an award for the best merchandised store of the year. I built and maintained effective and positive relationships with both my superiors and staff. I was able to foster teamwork through regular team meetings which encouraged staff to contribute ideas on how we could improve our operation. This resulted in a sense of ownership and commitment to the initiatives which were implemented.
