Objective
I desire a 'shore side' position dealing with vessel operations in and around ports. This line of work is what I have wanted to persue since day one, and am ready to start a lifetime career in the maritime field.
Experience
As a dispatcher at Providence Steamboat my knowledge of the maritime industry has been advanced beyond what I had previously known through my interest in maritime activities and photography as a hobby. In this position I inform the tugboat crews of job times, berthing arrangements and tug assignments. I am in constant communication with the shipping agents, tug and barge captains, pilots, dock masters and U.S.C.G. officials, many with whom I have built a solid rapport.
Prior to my employment with Providence Steamboat, I had already begun familiarizing myself with the East Coast regions, waterways and shipping berths. I am aware of many of the shipping terminals that are present up and down the East Coast, and I have extensive knowledge of both the origin and destination of much of the product to be dealt with at various berths. I am quite familiar with the type of business that your company deals with on a daily basis and in my position as a dispatcher at Providence Steamboat I have had extensive experience working with tug assists and vessel schedules.
I graduated from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban Planning with Minors in both Sociology as well as Geography. Classes that I have taken dealt with such issues as Principles of Urban and Regional Planning, Construction Management, Port Authority Logistics, Land and Resource Analysis, as well as Map, Blue Print, and Air Photo Analysis. Hopefully all of my experience, education and knowledge of the maritime industry will be of use to your company. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you shortly.
