Contracted Ordinary Seaman/Painter

Assisted ABs in sounding ballast tanks and tying up barges and supply boats, Assisted Riggers on deck, Chipped rust, Painted, Tore up flooring.



Chuck's Reliable Electric

Employed: November 2012 - July 2013

Journeyman/Apprentice

Troubleshooted electrical problems and wired new circuits on residential and commercial service calls.



Key West Packet Lines

Employed: March 2010 - March 2011

Seaman, Wiper, Bosun

Set sails and manned the helm on charters and transits. Assisted Chief Engineer in the engine department. Addressed any problems with rigging, electrical malfunctions, plumbing, shelving and fixtures. Routine preventative maintenance. Catered to passengers.

Contracted Boat Builder

Was contracted to rebuild company catamaran. I dropped the rig, pulled the crossbeams, removed the hardware, prepped the hulls, filled/faired, painted, refastened hardware, reassembled hulls on crossbeams, restepped the mast, ran and tuned all the standing and running rigging.

-I also captained the boat on two charters in the summer of 2011 while captains were absent.

I’ve worked on countless boats of many kinds (including the construction of my own 42 foot plywood trimaran) in yards, at the dock, and at sea:

-Brightwork on wood

-Structural, aesthetic, and emergency fiberglass repair

-Engine maintenance

-Rigging

-Splice line and cable

-Maintenance on steel (derusting with needleguns, osfo, priming products…)

-Basic navigation skills: electronic navigation and chart plotting

-Adept understanding of computers and GPS systems

-A/C and low voltage

-Proficient with all hand tools
