Deckhand

Objective


My objective is to work as a deckhand on a sail or motor vessel or yacht 60' to 400’. My long term objective is to eventually become a Captain. I am a highly self motivated, hard worker willing to learn anything and everything it takes to get the job done at 110%. I have very strong customer service and communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. I am very easy to get along with, with a very outgoing personality.


Experience


[03/2009 to 06/2009] [ American Cruise Lines]

I worked a 12 week term as a deckhand on there 211’ M/V American Spirit. Duties were cleaning and maintaining the vessel, helm watch, gangway watch, nightly round through the vessel, docking and undocking, painting, driving there launch power boat. We sailed for ten weeks back and forth from Charleston, SC, Beaufort, SC, Hilton Head, SC, Daufuskie Island, SC, Savannah, GA, St. Simons Island, GA, Jekyll Island, GA and Amelia Island, FL. Then we sailed north from Charleston, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Wilmington, NC, Morehead City, NC, Oriental, NC, Coinjock, NC, Norfolk, VA, and Baltimore, MD. Last week we sailed the Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore, MD, Annapolis, MD, Crisfield, MD, Oxford, MD, St. Michaels, MD, Yorktown, VA, Tangier Island, VA, Williamsburg, VA an Cambridge, MA.

Supervision of all business functions of a rental-purchase store including sales, marketing, payment collections, facilities, fleet management, product repairs, payroll, inventory management, expense control, product pricing and merchandising, and general P&L responsibilities



[03/2000 to 09/2000] [Inevitable charter yacht 130‘]

I worked for Captain Robert Ferneding on a motor yacht Inevitable. I was a deckhand cleaning and maintaining the yacht, sanding, re-staining and varnishing wood, priming and painting the anchor room and storage rooms.

High school diploma / STCW 95 / Power Boat Level II


Certification


Tender Operator RHIB Course Rya Power Boat Level II, 17 hours of Basic Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention, 12 hours of Personal Survival Techniques, 8 hours of First Aid and CPR, 4 hours of Personal Safety and Social Responsibility.


Skils


Several years of water sport experience such as wake boarding, wake skating, jet skiing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, deep sea fishing, knowing several different types of knots for fishing.
