Objective
Objective - Position as a Deck Hand for a company that seeks a well experienced, Boatswains Mate with prior military history.
Experience
Department of the United States Navy 06/2005 to present
• Petty officer in charge of all interior and exterior preservation of the ship. Supervised and managed 50+ personnel in the preservation and restoration of the ship over a three year period.
• Petty Officer in Charge of all anchor, towing, and davit evolutions.
• Petty Officer in charge of sea and anchor. Responsible for all line handling pulling in and out of ports. The safety of 30+ personnel while mooring the ship to the pier or getting underway from the pier.
• Assist the navigator as Quartermaster of the watch. Take radar bearing and ranges; make depth soundings and celestial observations, plot courses. Maintain charts, navigational aids and oceanographic publications, as well as maintain the deck log underway or in port.
• Master Helmsman qualified to pull vessels in and out of ports around the world. Drive 100 to 150 yards alongside another ship while refueling, stores on loads, and personnel transfers. Any type of towing or steering while in restricted maneuvering.
• Coxswain driver of the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat. Safely executed man overboard recoveries, diplomatic transfers, security patrols, trained for small boat attacks, etc.
• Damage Control Petty Officer (DCPO). Was responsible for approximately 12,000 pieces of damage control equipment on the ship. Including all doors, hatches, and scuttles. All CO2, PKP, and AFFF bottles. As well as, fire fighting hoses, nozzles, and fire fighting stations and deck drains. Allowing the ships damage control ability to sustain any casualty.

I started my Maritime career as a Deck Seaman and quickly climbed the ladder of advancement to a Boatswains mate. With that I have extensive knowledge and experience in bridge watch standing. I am proficiently skilled at navigating with charts, visuals, and radars. I am qualified and a master in basic and advanced seamanship which includes marlinspike, splices, knots, line, wire rigging, and nautical rules of the road (both inland and international)l. I am also skilled at rigging cargo handling equipment to replenish ship at sea, handling cargo in port, and signals to direct winch and crane operations. I am a master helmsman and have over 4,000 hour of driving experience.
My experiences with the Department of the Navy and interaction with senior officials have only enhanced my skills of training, communication, supervision, team building, and ability to quickly establish a rapport with individuals of diverse backgrounds. I know my experience and training can provide your company with a well knowledged, hard working, and disciplined individual for the job as a deck hand.
