Duties: Assemble River Barge tows using heavy cable, rigging and ratchets for up to 60 barges at one time.Maintained condition of boat and equipment, by cleaning, chipping and paintion. Loading and off loading of supplies. Small boat operator. Worked 6 hour day and night shifts. Advanced in job from Deckhand to Watchman supervising deck crews. Repair yard experience with tear down and build up of the ships 500 HP diesel engines. Excellent Safety Record. Many times I have worked with the Captain from the front of a 1200 foot tow guiding him thru difficult obstacles without problems. Have disassembled barge tows over 1000 times to be able to move thru the river locks under all weather and lighting conditions from St. Paul, Minnesota to New Orleans, Louisiana with no safety mishaps.
