Through my work and general experience, I feel very comfortable and confident to operate large machinery as well as maintenance under guidance. Over the last five years I have developed specific skills in relation to gliding.
I am extremely interested in a constantly challenging and diverse career. I feel the Merchant Navy will offer me a path towards reaching that goal. I believe I will gain immense job satisfaction from reaching the ultimate pinnacle of seamanship ie ship command. My interest has progressed from my fascination with the water and boats in general. This has been enhanced by studying Marine studies at school and general operation of leisure crafts over the years and now seems to be a natural progression towards the Merchant Navy.
I have prepared for university by trying a diverse range of jobs which have made me realise I need higher qualifications and challenges to fulfil my future ambitions towards a satisfying and long term career. I feel that because of this I have developed the commitment and drive necessary to undertake study with the Australian Maritime College. My ultimate ambition is to achieve my master’s certification by undertaking the necessary study combined with practical experience to progress my career.
