Skils
As for my professional skills I can plan and conduct sea voyage: ability to determine the ship’s position by the use of landmarks, aids to navigation, deadreckoning, taking into account the winds, tides, currents and estimated speed. I have great command of English which helps me to work with navigational and nautical publications very easily. I understand meteorological information and I can communicate with other ships and coast stations as I have taken my exam for GMDSS General Operator Certificate (GOC). I have knowledge of compasses and ability to determine errors of the compasses. I also have knowledge of IMO conventions concerning safety of life at sea, protection of marine environment, etc.
As now I am starting to build a career I think it would be nice if I begin working onboard a passenger ship from the very beginning of my professional career. I know that if I get on another type of ship it will be a lot more difficult to get on a cruise ship afterwards. As I have experience on a passenger ship and trainferry Ro-Ro ship as deck cadet, I realized that working onboard passenger ship would be better for me because there are different people you meet and the more important - you work with people. I think that working with people is the best way to get over the sea depression when you have not been ashore for a long time. This will help me to bear more easily the difficulties of the seaman’s life. As for my personal skills I can say that I am a very responsible and trustworthy person. I am a hardworking man when I feel pleasure from my work, which will be certain if I get onboard one of your ships. I am also very motivated and I am able to work as part of team. But in order to receive my license for 3d Mate, I need practice for at least 5 months as assistant officer and fill in my training book as well.
