Experience


Oct 1996 to Dec 2006

Served as a Coxswain aboard a modular warping tug. Supervised operation of watercraft and small boat crew. Responsibilities included docking, unloading, and anchoring watercraft; loading and unloading cargo; inspecting, servicing, and operating fire equipment, lifeboats, and rafts; maintenance and inspection of equipment valued at $1.5M+; maneuvering watercraft; and application of basic water safety and rescue procedures. Utilized piloting and dead reckoning principles and skills. Trained, supervised, and ensured combat readiness of 20-32 onboard personnel.

Also served as a Sea Pay NCO, Publications NCO, and Equal Opportunity Leader. Responsibilities included maintenance and operational readiness of all bridge equipment, presail inspections, nautical chart updates, publications, and Vessel Logbook; equipment valued at $750K; submission of Marine Licensing and Sea Pay transactions; and keeping Commander advising on all Equal Opportunity issues.
