OPERATIONS - DIVERSE GROUP - OIL, GAS AND DRY
My career aim is to be constantly challenged in demanding operations, chartering and brokering sectors of the maritime industry. I’m enjoying the commercial operations work already offered by V.Ships Glasgow, and I have had two ad-hoc projects in the company with regards to auditing charterer’s statements and a cultural audit of the organization in lieu with increasing operational efficiencies

Post Fixture Operator
V.Ships is the world’s largest ship management company providing various services in the maritime sector. The post fixtures department handles 105 vessels for various renowned tanker owners providing them with pre fixture negotiations, post fixture analysis and commercial operations.
• Auditing Charterers’ Statements- Assisted in formulating a tool by utilising key points, sub process and comparisons for auditing charterer’s voyage statements, demurrage claims, freight paid, bunker invoices and agency proformas for two of the time chartered vessels with ST Shipping.
• Pre – Fixture Operations- Assisted brokers and owners with pre fixture questionnaires, bunker quantities and vessels operational capabilities by expediting and collating information flow from vessel and technical managers. A good understanding of the complexities of the inter alliance between the commercial and accounting departments.
• Post Fixture Operations- Various aspects of post fixtures for ten VLCC’s, two dry bulk vessels and one Suez max tanker were executed ranging from agency appointments to bunker stems. As a routine monitored vessels performance on daily basis and updated voyage estimate systems.
• Demurrage Calculations- Have a good understanding of charter parties and have successfully prepared demurrage calculations in line with various charter party terms for various vessel’s on voyage/time charter for owners’ resulting in an excess claim of $650,000 over the freight payable in a period of three months. Have actively sought payment for these and achieved time bar targets.
• Inter-departmental relationships: Have always strived in maintaining a more pro-active as well as good interface between various key stakeholders involved in the immediate working environment. Have proposed team building as well as leadership exercises/sessions to be included as a key departmental objective in next years planning.
2005: V & A Marketing Communications, India
Senior Business Development Manager
V&A Marketing Communications is a leading enterprise in DM / RM within the FMCG market. Established since 2001, it has increased its clientele base globally and aiding businesses to set up operations in India.
• Business Development- Was solely responsible with a team of six for the start up of an in-house printing and designing unit for the company which has now become the core financial stability of the organisation. This business unit now contributes 80% towards the revenue of the company.
• Negotiation- Stipulated brand building strategies with clients. Through successful negotiations, achieved two new contracts within the short span of 3 months worth $80,000. Simulated a Supply/distribution network to maintain good relations with the clients.
2004 – 2005: Wallem Shipmanagement Hong Kong
Chief Mate
Wallem is the one of the reputed shipping groups in the world with its services extending into ship management in the technical and commercial sectors.
• Internal Consultancy- Analysed company procedures on operations and maintenance systems. Recommended and implemented changes for the fleet, to cut down material costs over a period of four-quarters by 30%, thus achieving optimum material usage. Also used efficient tools for budgeting on a quarterly period so as to minimise dead stock and operate efficiently.
• Logistics- Fully responsible for carriage of oil cargo worth $100 million, loading and discharging operations. Company representative in various parts of the world, i.e. UK, Japan, South Korea, USA, etc. Maintained effective operations onboard for the full time running of the vessel so as to make charter party lay- cans as required.
• Team Work/Training- Successfully trained a team of 30 sub-ordinates on ISO 14001 policies and implemented the system effectively. Set high standards relating to the corporate image of the company to Oil Majors across the globe i.e. BP, Shell, Texaco, Exxon etc.

Senior Navigating Officer
World-Wide Shipping is one of the largest in the tanker market, as with a significant dry bulk fleet, comprising about 10 million tonnes of cargo-carrying capacity. Over the last 30 years, World-Wide has built over 300 ships in shipyards around the world.
• Logistics- Processed new Inventory and supply/order programmes that led to scales of economies in ship stores and material usage. Achieved full compliance to USCG conventions for terminal safety. Was awarded best improved ship in 6 months in Jan 2004 by the owners.
• Accounting/Materials’ Management- Calculated wage scales for over 200 employees and budgeted vessels’ daily running costs on monthly basis. Operated and installed ERP software (AMOS-M&P) SAP equivalent for logistics control onboard vessels.

Skils
• Commercial operations experience – currently working at V.Ships Glasgow in the post fixture department involving both pre fixture negotiations as well as post fixture operations for VLCC’s owned by Frontline. Have successfully negotiated and worked with charterers, brokers and owners from various parts of the world.
• Sector knowledge – eleven years’ experience of operations, logistics, regulation, change management and implementation in the maritime petroleum sector.
• Analysis – made an in depth study of company procedures on operations and maintenance systems and recommended comprehensive changes for the fleet. This resulted in a decrease by 30% in material costs.
• Operations/Logistics - had sole responsibility for carriage of oil cargo worth 100 million USD. Also, at Worldwide Shipping Ltd. I initiated a full career and competence based programme for onboard training delivered to nearly 300 people and have strived to improve existing standards and systems.
• Client relationships - was responsible for setting high standards relating to our corporate image amongst other global oil companies, i.e. BP, Shell, Texaco, Exxon etc.
