Coating Inspector

Objective


To seek employment as a coating inspector. With the understanding and knowledge I have gained during the construction of the Very Large Crude Oil Tankers and my position at a highly regarded coating applicator for the North sea responsible for several high profile contracts, I am confident that I can surpass the abilities, performance and knowledge of an inspector my age and level of experience.

Position: Coating Inspector/Production Administrator

Duties: The undertaking of dual roles within the company.

Coating Inspector:

Responsible for the smooth and efficient management of all QC inspection duties within the company, implementing various coating systems on a range of bespoke materials supplied by the customer such as risers, platforms and frames and valves etc. primarily for the offshore industry. Monitor and inspect all blasting and painting operations ensuring high quality standards are maintained coating is applied as per the client’s detailed specification. All deviations from the specification being reported to management and all defects rectified prior to acceptance. Work not conforming to a standard is reported and so I was responsible for creating, investigating and closing internal or external NCR’s and maintaining a record of customer satisfaction. I am confident working with isometric and technical drawings, data sheets and procedures.

As a qualified coating inspector I am confident in using a range of inspection equipment including but not limited to PAT Testing, DFT checks, and High voltage holiday detection. Recording and documenting these processes using MS Word/Excel/Access on a daily basis. Due to the high volume and range of clients dealt with I am experienced in a range of coatings including thermally sprayed aluminium from our own automated T.S.A. shop.

Production Administrator:

Being fully responsible for the smooth operation of the coating and blasting facility. This involved creating work instructions and job reports based on the customer’s instructions ensuring that the client’s specification was understood and fully complied with. This role provided experience in the expediting of work ensuring the client received their product quickly, efficiently and of high quality by working closely with the yard manager. In addition to these responsibilities I was also required to provide weekly reports to the management and required to work on my own initiative. I was responsible for creating and updating the databases for all work and finances within the company which involved liaising with our estimator. I attended weekly production meetings with the company director to report weekly earnings and discuss all relevant issues relating to quality and production.

Shipyard: Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, Mokpo, South Korea.

Company: National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia

Position: Coating Inspector representing ship owner

Duties: As a trainee Coating Inspector I worked closely with the inspection team responsible for the Inspection of Surface preparation and coating application of steel fabricated super blocks. This also included associated pipelines, within the shipyard and outside at sub contractors, ensuring the required quality, specification and standard was being achieved. During this position I gained experience in welding inspection. Compiling computer generated reports in MS Word and Excel and monitoring shipyards Quality Control performance. Attend daily production meetings with the shipyard and coating manufacturers. This was a character building role, dealing with confrontation and working in a high pressure environment.
