I have worked in the maritime industry on ships varying from general cargo, to heavy lift to cruise ships for the past 12 years. And I am looking for a career change without changing my focus on my work ethics, positive attitude and hospitality. I see this position as a perfect opportunity to positively affect the lives of others, while exploring other areas of interest such as the maritime industry offers.

In my most recent position as senior second officer/acting first officer onboard Holland America Line Cruise ships, I have had the unique opportunity to explore and experience many of the aspects of large passenger vessels. My experience and expertise ranges from navigation to lifesaving to safety and safety management system (sms). My job onboard required that I be a jack of all trades, and I did so for several years. I seek a change in order to have more time with my family, without leaving the maritime industry entirely. My passion is for sailing and navigating, and I am at home on the sea.

I do want to highlight my experiences on general cargo ships, heavy lift cargo ships and chemical tankers. I started my career here as I found out that with the work ethics, the hard work and the proper sailing this would benefit my roots and given me a steady base to begin. As I have proven, this choice was beneficial for the career I have ahead of me.

Not only have my shipboard experiences given me sailing knowledge, they have also provided me with the skills to be an exceptional mentor and manager. I directly supervised up to twenty crew members, and I worked diligently to help them become better officers and crew members. I feel confident that I can manage a crew effectively. I work well with others, and I am very flexible with unexpected changes. I work well under pressure, and my work ethic and moral compass are exceptional. I can communicate fluently in English and Dutch, writing and speaking both languages. I am also proficient and able to communicate verbally in Spanish.

I believe my shipboard background with management, navigation, and training provides the skills you require for this position. I am an organized, enthusiastic individual, with a strong work ethic and a drive to excel at all I do. I would welcome the opportunity for a personal interview to further discuss my qualifications. You can reach me via e-mail or call the number listed above. I look forward to hearing from you.
