I'm looking to move to a shoreside job after 9 years of seagoing experience on product and crude oil carriers.


Experience


1) United States Shipping, LP - May 2003 to Present

Chief Mate on ITB's

Responsibilities: In charge of cargo & ballast transfers, prepare cargo stow plans based on charterer's needs/orders, safety officer-ensuring all jobs performed on deck completed in a safe manner consistent with good seamanship & industry safe practices, vessel security officer-ensuring all aspects of the Company Security Plan for the vessel was followed, supervise deck maintenance to ensure all aspects of cargo & ballast system was operating properly, safety equipment maintained

2)Alaska Tanker Company, LLC - December 2000 to May 2003

Second Mate & Third Mate

Second Mate Responsibilities: Assist Chief mate in his/her cargo/deck duties, stand bridge watch at sea and cargo watch in port, supervise maintenance of bridge deck.

Third Mate Responsibilities: Medical and Safety officer (ensure hospital and safety equipment inspected monthly and all was in good order/repair).

As both Second and Third Mate, piloted vessel through pilotage waters of Prince William Sound between Seal Rocks and Bligh Reef.

3)Mormac Marine Transport - June 1998 to December 2000

Third Mate

Responsibilities: Stood bridge watch at sea and cargo watch in port, served as Medical officer and Safety officer (inspected items monthly to ensure all equipment was in good working order/repair, as Medical Officer, assisted Captain with sick/injured crewmembers)

Graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy

Bachelor of Science Degree in Marine Transportation


Certification


USCG Lifeboatman, Advanced Firefighting, Lifesaving, ARPA, Inert Gas Systems, Crude Oil Washing, Medical Person-In-Charge, Personal Safety & Social Responsibility, Personal Survival Techniques, Bridge Resource Management, GMDSS Licensed/Certified, Person-In-Charge of the Transfer of Dangerous Liquids Certified, NCB Ship's Stability Certified, Vessel Security Officer Certified, Shipyard Competent Person/Confined Space Entry Certified

-Able to use proficiently the following programs:

1) All Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook)

2) CargoMax Load/Discharge Program

3) ABS Safenet NS-3 and NS-5
