Description

• Being a Chief Mate, responsible for the diverse tasks viz. running deck gangs, coordinating cargo planning and stowage and facilitating drills
• Administering the voyage planning, routing, and electronic bridge equipment utilization
• Inspecting vessel preventative maintenance plan including equipment, hull interior and exterior
• Regulating the stability calculations and afloat maintenance
• Performing as a medical person in charge for multiple cargo vessels; demonstrating the proper procedures in providing injury care for personnel on board
• Strictly supervising the waste management
• Handling aboard vessels during three separate shipyard periods for vessel retrofitting/maintenance and two periods for 15year special survey
• In charge of tank entry and other confined space operation
• Superintending for all deck maintenance with special emphasis on steel work, and deck machinery
• As a ship’s navigator; creating the ship’s passage plans
• Educating the officer and all members of the deck crew regarding safety operations and maintenance of the vessel
• Responsible for the maintenance operations in the Marine Department as well as the loading and unloading operations
• Developing the watch assignments
• Conducting fire and boat drills as directed as well as weekly safety meetings and orientation of new personnel
• Coordinating with the strategic executions in managing the night operations with other department heads
• Calculating the vessel stability on a timely manner
• Assisting other departments regarding the overall safety operations
• Monitoring the weather conditions for overall vessel safety and communication
• Managing the vessel's garbage, planning and executing garbage discharge at recommended shore installations along with concerned documentation
• Mentoring the subordinates if required
