Experience
I have been employed at Inland Barge Service for the last eighteen years as Chief Mate. Inland Barge is a family owned freight transportation service located in Nenana, Alaska. The barge service operates on the
Yukon River and it's tributaries, providing services to villages, camps and
mines. The area in which we operate is on a river system with shifting
bars, swift, shallow water and no navigational aides. I had to become
proficient in knowledge of the river conditions, seasonal depths, crossing
changes, useable channels at different river stages, ares of swift and
slack currents, landing characteristics, morring cable locations and
navigational hazards.
