Chief Mate

Objective


I am seeking a permanent rotation on any vessel from Tug to LNG Tanker, as Chief Mate or 2nd Mate depending on the Vessel.


Experience


2011-2012 (Nov-Mar) Waterman Steamship Antarctica

2nd Mate on the GREEN WAVE. 500 ft, 17,000 DWT Container ship with 1008 TEU capacity making the annual supply run to Antarctica. The Green Wave was flaged into US registry in Nov 2011. In addition to normal navigation duties as the 2nd mate, I worked closely with the Captain and CM in all aspects of the changeover, including creating multiple procedure references and write ups for the ship.



2011 (Feb-Jun) Horizon Lines, LLC Gulf of Alaska

3rd Mate on the HORIZON ANCHORAGE and the HORIZON KODIAK. Both vessels are 700 ft 22,000 DWT Container Ships with 1100 TEU capacity, operating in the gulf of Alaska between Tacoma, Anchorage, and Kodiak. Power Plant: 9 cylinder 20,000 hp direct drive Diesel engines with a Controllable Pitch Propeller. Duties include standing a navigational watch, monitoring loading and discharge of cargo, and maintaining all safety and firefighting equipment.



(Jan-Feb) Maersk Lines Limited West Coast/Asia

2nd Mate on SEALAND INTREPID. A 930 FT 60,000 DWT Container Ship with 4700 TEU capacity, operating on the pacific ocean between California and Asia. Power Plant: 50,000 hp, 10 cylider slow speed direct drive diesel engine. Duties consisted of standing a navigation watch, voyage planning, maintaining all navigation equipment, monitoring cargo loading and discharging



2010 (Jan-Aug) America Presidential Lines East Coast/Mid East

2nd Mate on M/V APL JAPAN. A 950 ft 65,000 DWT Container Ship with 6500 TEU capacity, running from the east coast of the US to Singapore via Suez and The Persian Gulf. Power Plant: 60,000 hp, 11cylider slow speed direct drive diesel engine. Duties consisted of standing a navigation watch, voyage planning, maintaining all navigation equipment, monitoring cargo loading and discharging, and acting as ships medical officer.



2008-2009 Horizon Lines, LLC UK/Caribbean

2nd Mate on USNS HENSON (Sept 09-Nov 09). A 350 ft, 4,700 DWT Oceanographic Survey Ship operating in the waters of Northern Europe and The Caribbean. Power Plant: Medium Speed Diesel Electric to 3 Azimuthing Thrusters with Dynamic Positioning capability. Duties consisted of watch standing, voyage planning, piloting for Master while arriving and departing, ship handling (while recovering and deploying marine survey equipment), maintaining all navigation equipment, and coxswain for fast rescue boat and life boats when launched. Prior to this vessel, I served as 3rd mate on board two sister ships, USNS MARY SEARS (Mar 09-Jul 09) and USNS SUMNER (Sep 08-Dec 08), and the USNS JOHN MCDONNELL (Apr 08-Aug 08).



2007-2008 Horizon Lines, LLC CA/HI/WA

3rd Mate on HORIZON PACIFIC. A 800ft, 47,000 DWT Container ship with 2200 TEU capacity, running between Tacoma, Oakland, Honolulu. Power plant: Steam propulsion. 42 day Relief job.

2004-2007 California Maritime Academy Vallejo, CA

Marine Transportation major. Completed the 4 year course study in 3 years. Graduated Magna Cum Laude.


Certification


U.S. Coast Guard Unlimited Chief Mates License with all affiliated STCW ’95 certificates.

U.S. Coast Guard 1600T Masters License.

U.S. Coast Guard Dangerous Liquid (DL) PIC Endorsement.

U.S. Coast Guard Liquid Gas (LG) Certificate of Completion.

Current small arms training (exp 12-2-12).

ATO/VSO MSC training issued: 11-15-11
