Experience


1st Assistant Engineer

Technip

Currently working aboard the Global 1200 DP2 pipe lay/ derrick vessel as senior 1A/E in the engine department. In this position I am responsible for all engine room machinery, junior engineers, two motormen, and a machinist. I am also responsible for planning the weekly workload for the department and coordinating jobs with other departments aboard. I have experience working with MAN/B&W 8L & 9L 32/40 diesel generators, Wartzila MV3000/7000 series main azimuth and drop down thrusters, and CAT 3500 series generators. I also have experience with Alfa Laval Lube and Fuel oil purifiers along with Tamrotor and Hatlapa start and service air compressors and Converteam control systems as related to main propulsion and subsystem control and valving. I am also responsible for assuring my department follows company safety procedures and protocols like the Permit to Work, JRA, and LOTO systems in place onboard.

2nd, 3rd Assistant Engineer, QMED.

Grand River Navigation Company

More than 6 years of progressively responsible hands-on and management experience in the maintenance, repair, modification, overhaul and installation of marine equipment and machinery of an aging Great Lakes bulk carrier fleet.

• Experience with electrical, water, fuel, lubrication, hydraulic, EMD, Alco and Nordberg main engines, motor control and related systems and major components.

• Experience includes AC/DC lighting and power systems, CAT C18, 3412, 3516 generators, controllers, starters and transformers; communication systems, general electronics, consoles and galley equipment.

• Obtained 2A/E Unlimited License 2/2009

• Obtained 3A/E Unlimited License 6/2007

• Obtained QMED rating 6/2005

2nd Assistant Engineer

Odyssea Marine

Hired on as 2nd Assistant Engineer to bring a DP1 OSV (M/V Hondo River) boat from Ghana, Africa to the United States. This was a delivery job only as presented by the company. I, along with the Chief engineer, was responsible to get a newly purchased boat ready electrically and mechanically to be able to cross the Atlantic Ocean to be delivered to it's new owners in New Orleans, La.

• Fit out and test all shipboard electrical and mechanical systems including F/O, L/O, potable and ballast water.

• Fit out and test all dry cargo and mud tanks.

My current training and certifications include STCW with OICEW endorsement, Lifeboatman , Current Med Care Provider, HVAC Universal technician license, H.U.E.T., Safe Gulf/Rig Pass(IADC version), Vanuatu Sailing Credentials, Current OGUK physical, Converteam DP Automation and Maintenance training from General Electric, Pulse safety training, BOSIET(Optio approved), Competency Assessor(SQA Approved). Level 1 Authorized Gas Tester.


Skils


My specialty is shipboard electrical systems. I have a great deal of electrical experience starting with my specialty rating of Electricians Mate in the USCG(EM2/E-5). After separating from service obtained my civilian journeyman license thru the Associated Builders and Contractors formal 4 yr apprenticeship, and have been working for the last 10 yrs as a merchant mariner.


 


I currently work on a pipe lay vessel and am trying to transition over to FPSO, drillships, or semi-subs to round out my experience in the industry
