Chief Engineer

Objective


I am a First-Class Marine Engineer, working as a Chief Engineer for the last 21 years in several companies. At present I am working as a Chief Engineer in a British Shipping Company named Zodiac Maritime Agencies Ltd., based in London



I have worked on container, bulk carrier, and general multipurpose cargo vessels. I am looking for a shore job or job in coastal vessel


Experience


I have experiences on Main Propulsion Engine like B&W, MAN, Peilstick, and Diesel Engine like MAK, DAIHATSU, MAN, etc



• Operation and maintenance of shipboard machineries of extra high scaling (two / four stroke engines), steam turbines, air-conditioning plant, refrigeration plant, boiler, compressor, pumps, hydraulic machineries, safety equipments, and fire fighting equipments

• Led engine room staff for normal running and operations of the plants on board ship

• Successfully passed various audits (including ISM), surveys carried out by various classification societies and various inspection carried out by Port State Control including US Coast Guard, Australian Authorities (AMSA) related to safety, Quality Control and Environmental Protection

• As Chief Engineer and Second Engineer trained ship staff on matter of safety in ship operations, marine propulsion prevention, and ensuring safe working practice

• Experienced in modifying existing PMS and installing PMS on board on newly take over vessel

• Supervised the loading and discharging process for the transfer of various type of cargo in bulk, planned cargo operation by providing an efficient and responsive plan, resulting in significant and saving time and capital

• Coordinated with senior managers from company for compliance with charter requirements

• Led down the implementation of ISM process

• Managed all fuel oil operation including fuel oil bunkering and internal transfer

• Managed on board testing fuel and lubricating oil

• Led ship staff for various drills on board pertaining to safety, security, and pollution prevention

• Spare parts inventory managements

• Dry docking experience on four vessels

• Preparation of specifications of spares for major repairs and dry docking

• Calibration of various measuring equipments



PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

Completed 4 years Marine Engineering Apprenticeship in M/S Shalimar Works Ltd. (1969 – 1973)



Served in M/S Hindustan Sheet Metal as Engineering Apprentice, (1967 – 1969)



Passed 2nd class MOT Part – A conducted by Ministry of Transport, Government of India



Joined M/S India Steamship Co. Ltd. As Junior Engineer, (Oct 1974)



Joined as THE (Training Junior Engineer) in M/S Shipping Corporation of India for short time



Passed 2nd class MOT Part – B, and promoted to 4th Engineer in India Steamship Co. and after six months, promoted to 3rd Engineer



Became 2nd Engineer in 1979



Passed 1st class MOT in the year 1984, and became Chief Engineer in October, 1986



Worked in M/S India Steamship Co. (Oct 1974 – June 1989)

After leaving India Steamship, worked on the following Companies for short time as Chief Engineer

• Pacific International Co. Singapore

• Eurasia Shipping Management Co. Hong Kong

• VOM (Vermillan Overseas Management Co.) Manila, Philippines

• Dockendale Shipping Co. Bahamas



Presently working in M/S Zodiac Maritime Agencies Ltd., London as Chief Engineer from August 2000, and signed-off from M/V YM Kaohsiung on 10/29/2006


Education


Diploma Course

Completed 4 year Diploma Course in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Calcutta Technical School, Kolkata, India, under State Council of West Bengal



Bachelor of Science

Read up to 2nd year class in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from City College (Main), Kolkata, India



Pre-University Examination

Passed in the year 1964, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from City College (Main), under Calcutta University, Kolkata, India



School Final Examination

Passed in the year 1962, under West Bengal Board of Secondary Education from Raja Monindra Boys High School, Kolkata, India
