Heavily recruited by CEO during startup, setup of office and hiring staff. Challenged to incorporate, set up and organize daily activities of the company.
Trading manager
Trading/marketing:
Performed daily market analysis (Platts, Argus, ICIS, Lubes’n’Greases) and developed relations with new suppliers and customers, performed regular trips to industry conferences, existing and potential customers in Belguim, France, Germany, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Switzerland, UAE, UK, USA. Conducted negotiations with suppliers/receivers for seaborne, railway, truck and flexitank deliveries of petroleum products. Negotiated contracts with suppliers, transshipment terminals, customers, surveyors, autotransport companies. Performed hedging of physical volumes of crude oil and petroleum products (in cooperation with BP, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley).
Operations:
Prepared and followed-up sale/purchase contracts. Nominated vessels and prepared/dispatched documentary instructions. Calculated and approved product blends (naphtha and crude condensates, base oils). Appointed quality and quantity inspections. Issued and checked import/export Letters of Credit, invoices and Letters of Indemnity. Performed stock control, follow-up for arrival, discharge and loading of cargo. Organized STS (ship-to-ship) operations and additives treatment on board of the vessel. Negotiated truck deliveries (distribution in ARA/UK). Concluded cargo insurance terms and conditions.
Shipping:
Built relations with a number of shipbrokers and shipowners. Chartered vessels - bulk tankers from 500 mt (part cargo) up to 80’000 mt vessels (aframax size). Tracked vessel’s position. Solved post-fixture issues and demurrage claims settlement.
Finance:
Monitored overall credit line facility and cash management. Negotiated with the banks on credit line facilities and financing of transactions. Liaised between banks and operational department. Performed payments, agreed on terms for loans and deposits. Created and analyzed profit & loss reports. Calculated corporate profit and income taxes.
Legal/audit:
Incorporated and closed companies (repoffices) in different jurisdictions (Belize, BVI, Cyprus, Russia, Switzerland). Liaised with auditors, accountants, state bodies. Negotiated on restructuring, taxation and litigation issues.
