2006-date Principal Naval Architect & Marine Platform Support Group Mgr. Responsible for 30+ Non-Industrial staff including Chartered Engineers. Professional support to Yachts, Submarines and Ships

Activities include:



• Technical responsibility for Ships in major refit

• Technical responsibility for Submarine structures.

• Developing roles and support functions to business groups.

• Enhancing position with external customers and design Authorities

• Developing staff and group activities.



2004-2005 Professional Officer - Submarines

Responsible for the structural revalidation of Submarines in refit or maintenance periods. Provide professional support to the customer and refit yard. Activities include:



• Through life support of Submarine defects.

• Review ultrasonic and visual inspection data.

• Advise on scope of hull surveillance packages.

• Review key structural hazards and concerns.



2000-2004 Deputy Professional Officer

Responsible for structural revalidation of Submarines and Ships in refit, and to provide professional support to the customer and refit yard. Activities include:



• Ensure the Design Authority & customer’s requirements are technically satisfied.

• Advise on repair solutions and alternatives.

• Ensure vessels are returned to the design requirements.

• Increase partnership with Design Authority & customers.

• Increase waterfront technical representation.

• Assist in descoping and cost saving initiatives.

• Develop recruitment and training of surveyors.

• Financial responsibility up to £1m/yr.



1996- 2000 Design Engineer - Conceptual

Represent Design Authority responsible for managing Surveys, Refits and Trials of Caisson and dock related structures. Also design of yacht arrangements and scantlings. Activities include:



• Conceptual design using classification society rules.

• Structural calculations.

• Stability calculations.

• Control Caisson Surveys, Refits and Trials.

• Conducting Officer for Inclining and Trials.

• Control warship surveys and decide all structural repairs.

• Conduct HSAM presentations to RN, MOD(N) and SSD.

• Manage resources and financial budgets



1995-1996 Engineer Design

Assist Professional Officer (Surveys):

• Produce survey guidance.

• Check and verify structural defects.



Secondment (4 months) - Project Engineer

• Assist in all aspects of a surface ship refit.



Secondment (2 months) - Design Engineer (Composites)

• Report on test data of composites.

• Feasibility study on blast wall reinforcing.



1991-1993 Shipwright Liner

• Submarine survey.

• Survey surface vessels.

• Produce detailed manufacturing drawing.



1987-1991 Shipwright

• Completed the accredited 4 year apprenticeship.
