Objective
For the majority of my professionel carrer I have worked in the textile industry with a primary concentration in the home decorative segment. My objective is to combine my extensive experience here, including the ability with a high degree of accuracy to determine both fiber content and construction, with my new found, alebit limited knowledge of the cargo surveyor's role in the ocean container shipping industry.
Experience
Maloney Commodity Services- Surveyor, specliazing in sugar, and molassas commodities. In the port of West Palm Beach I identified scheduling conflicts between the trucking company and the stevedors at pier side that led to long wait times for the truckers at the start up in the morning hours. I know this sounds simple but just adjusting the schedules reduced wait time and allowed for extra loads per truck per day, thus cutting 10 to 15% the number of days required to discharge the cargo.
The Robert Allen Group New York NY.- Director of Piece goods sales. Recurited and managed an extensive group of independent sales agents in the United States. In addition to overhauling the sales force I identified and reduced redundent operations in both the production and sampling departments, sampling is a major cost item in this industry, that resulted in reducing lead times for production, and lower sampling costs freeing up monies for product development.
