EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:



• Quarter Master: Steers 600 ft tanker in and out of port and narrow waterways

• Bridge Lookout: Responsible for keeping a sharp lookout for ships on collision course or vessels in distress

• Responsible for adjusting the mooring lines to make sure the ship is secure against the dock

• Assist the Chief Officer in loading and discharging of highly flammable liquid cargos: Gasoline, Diesel,

Crude Oil, Benzene and Jet Fuel

• Connect cargo hoses

• Assist the Chief Officer in topping off cargo tanks which involved opening and closing drop valves, line blocks,

reading MMC gauging tapes while communicating via radio

• Responsible for operating deck machinery: Cranes (lifts heavy equipment on/off the ship), Mooring Winches (tightens/loosens mooring line), and Life boat davit (device used to lower and raise life boat)

• Serves as a member of the fire and rescue boat team

• Responsible for daily maintenance including chip rust and paint decks and pipelines
