Captain/Mate

Objective

To secure employment on higher tonnage vessels to increase my license tonnage (currently 100tn Near Coastal). Seeking 1600+ ton.

Experience

Mar. 2001 – June 2002

Captain M/Y Millennium Lady, M/y First Lady.

Millennium Lady – 110’ Skipperliner Dinner/tour boat operating 1.5 hour tours from Miamarina at Bayside in downtown Miami. Handled all duties as captain including crew training and drills.

First Lady – 98’ 149 pax Skipperliner operating out of the Ft Lauderdale waters of the ICW. Handled all duties as captain including training, drills, and CG Inspections. Oversee maintenance and upkeep of steel hull vessel.

Jun 2002-Oct 2002

Captain M/Y Festiva, 90’ 400 pax Dinner/Booze Cruise boat operating on the NY Harbor Waters out of Lincoln Harbor Marina, Weehawken, NJ. Carried out all duties as captain including operation/navigation of vessel in adverse weather conditions (Fog), requiring heavy use of radar, Bridge to bridge communication via CH 13 VHF, and directions of Coast Guard VTS(Vessel Traffic Service). Gained valuable experience in high traffic harbors, including NY, the East River, and Long Island Sound.

Captained MY Avanti, 48’Carver Voyager. Performed all duties as captain of Private Yacht for eccentric owner. High Demand for operation of vessel and care of owner and guests while on board. Gained valuable skills in patience as well as “white glove” captaining.

Oct 2002

Delivered MY Avanti to Ft.Lauderdale, secured dockage and set up vessel for part time charter operations.

Oct 2002-May 2003

Continued operation of MY Avanti in Ft.Lauderdale and rejoined as relief capt of MY Millennium Lady in Miami.

May 2003-Sept 2003

Returned to NY to rejoin MY Festiva as seasonal captain and also began captaining 110’Skipperliner(s) MY Cayah Sarita and Cayah Michelle for Papa Fish Charters, operating both vesseld regularly between Cos Cob, CT on Long Island Sound and NY Harbor. Gained experience operating vessels in open water and adverse conditions (Fog,Rain, and rough Seas on the sound).

Sept 2003 – June 2004

Delivered 60’ Sea Ray from NY to Ft Lauderdale for private owner, then rejoined MY First Lady as seasonal captain. Also took on captaining MY SummerWind, a 96’ Stryker motoryacht, where I gained experience operating difficult to drive vessel with aging Detroit 12v92 TI engines, and a host of aging onboard systems. Gained valuable experience in adapting and overcoming vessel issues that could have cost the owner thousands in lost charters due to no-sail issues with aging boat.

Sept 2003 – May 2005

Carefree Lifestyles – Marine Coordinator. Developed and implemented a portfolio of multiple private yachts for one call Luxury Lifestyle company. Essentially my duties included securing private yachts for Carefree’s day/bareboat charter operation to high profile clients.

June 2004 – Oct 2004

Subcontracted to MY Sir W, a 400 Pax Casino Boat to oversee stability test, CG Inspection, Vessel Security Plan per Homeland Security Protocol, Crew Staffing, training, and training of Full Time Captain in handling of unique vessel, operated by remote control. Being a shallow draft vessel, she was easily affected by wind and current while operating in the highly congested waters of Pompano Beach, FL. My most valuable experience with the Sir W was my use and implementation of the 36 & 49 CFR’s for both Subchapter T and K boat regulations, and I also single-handedly wrote and developed Vessel Security Plan per PVA and Homeland Security Guidelines.

Oct 2004- June 2007

Left captaining to return to NJ to help out in Family business (see attached resume) STS Transportation. Captains License expired in 2007.

June 2007-Sept 2008

Left to open Large Format Graphics business and rehersal/recording studio in Washington, NJ, “RMS Studios” and the Design Group. Sold both businesses in 2008, after the death of my father on Sept 18, 2008. Relocated to Atlanta to attend Sea School to both renew my license and add additional endorsements to it (Radar Unlimited and STCW, and commercial Towing). My plan was to return to operate supply boats in the oilfields of LA and TX, however with the current economic conditions, many vessels are tied up, leaving an oversupply of captains. I plan to spend the summer 2009 in Atlanta working on Lake Lanier in Atlanta.

Strengths:

Vessel operation and handling, especially in adverse conditions.

Training for operation of Vessels

USCG Compliance. Sound knowledge of 36 & 49 CFR’s both T and K Boat regulations

Operation and maintenance of vessel onboard systems, from Chillers to Hynautic Steering to GPS, Radar and electronic compass/Navigation systems.

Care and maintenance of Yachts

Charters and Cruises

Sea Trials

Would relish the opportunity to gain experience selling boats by working with potential buyers to determine their needs and which vessel meets their expectations.
