Objective
I would like to have a job that paid for my travel again. I drive 9 hours one way to work. I will take a job as mate but would like to go Captain one day. I'm waiting for a Captain's job on the tug Patriot, but don't really know when that will happen. Would like to be with a good company and stay put. I've heard nothing but good about Hornbeck.
Experience
I'm currently employed by Vane Brothers. I came here in Dec. 05. Was hoping to be in a Captain's position by now and also being told it will happen soon. I pull my own watch while onboard. I can do all aspects of the job, making up tows, putting barge on tow wire, sail and dock.
Allied Transportation from 7-2000 to 11-2005. Was a tankerman until 2002 then I was given the chance to run Mate. While there I upgraded my license and attended many schools. The policy there was the more you learn the more you earn. Was the Safety officer,Mate, Barge Capt., and deck crew leader all rolled into one.
2-1997 to 6-2000 Penn Maritime was employed as AB/Tankerman
5-1993 to 1-1997 Hanover Towing was employed as Tankerman, Asst. eng. Deckhand.

Skils
Feel that I have the skills needed to operate in this industry from the deck to the wheelhouse. I splice rope, paint, conduct safety meetings, do chart corrections, pull my own watch, and whatever else has to be done to complete a task efficiently and safely.
I'm a people person and fit in well with others. Would prefer to be on a non-smoking boat if possible. Just as long as the smoke isn't blown right in my face. I take pride in my appearance and believe in doing something right the first time. I feel I'm a professional in all that I do. I am also young and work out reguarly to keep in shape which is hard on a boat.
