Captain or Mate of a modern harbor tug in the southeast U.S. working an equal time schedule with a professional crew.
Experience
Deckhand to Master throughout a 28 year career on: Coast Guard utility and patrol boats; harbor, coastal and offshore tugs (conventional, tractor and integrated tug-barge units); and oceanographic research vessels. Instructor of STCW courses in basic safety, fast rescue boats and lifeboats.
Education
Associate of Arts Degree in Technical Management. Radar Observer. Instructor, Supervisor and Assessor. Fast Rescue Boats. Basic Safety Training. Basic and Advanced Shipboard Firefighting. Bridge Resource Management. Survival Craft.
Certification
Master of 500 gross tons and Mate of 1600 gross tons, near coastal (Issue number 2). Able Seaman. Radar Observer - Unlimited. Towing Officer. Marine Radio Operator. STCW.
Skils
Professional boat handler in all aspects of harbor assist and coastal towing. Ability to assume responsibility for the safe and efficient completion of assigned operations, while directing crew performance in accordance with prescribed standards under any condition.
