Captain/Master Mariner

Objective

To obtain a meaningful and challenging position that enables me to continue my passion as a Master Mariner.

Experience

Starting in July 1976, I took my first command on Log/Bulk Ship trading in various Ports in Asia with main ports in Japanese waters up to 1981, under the Japanese Principals through our local Manning Agent in the Philippines. I expanded my Career to seek job as Master with European Principals from 1981 up to the present. Commanding different various type of vessel from 6,000 DWT to 150,000,000 DWT and Transporting different types of cargoes worldwide ranging from complete Solid Bulk, Combination Bulk, Forest Products, Containers, Steel, Cars and various cargo commodities as required by the consumers worldwide.

Most of the companies I worked with, were owned and managed by Japanese and European Shipowners and Shipmanagers and coming to know they have had a unique companies policy implementing Total Quality Assurance in Shipping services and the “International Safety Management in Shipping Popularly known as ISM code. In conformance with this system (The Management of Safety in Shipping) the marine operations has improved (Safety + Quality) and become effective tools in Safe Ship Operation, Safe handling, Transporting of cargoes and the protection of the Marine Environment as a whole and the process of optimum safety, quality and avoidance of loss in the carriage of goods by Sea Transport.

I’ve been trained as to the function and implementation of the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) on the Shipboard Management and with the positive impact on the commercial and legal issue of quality services to the Maritime Industry is a must. I have undergone actual internal and external auditing of ISM code and implementing the code on board ship under various shipping company. On my appointment as Port Captain in the container trade in the Philippine water, the Safety Management policy and procedures of the company in accordance with ISO standards to cargo handling, carriage and production are all adhered to. I believed that my experience can be of benefits under your organization and myself and also, I have been engaged in teaching in the Maritime Training Center in the Philippines, particularly safety courses as mandated by the STCW’ 95 (at the Philippine Seafarers Training Center in Manila) and at the Mariners’ Polytechnic Training Center, both located in Manila to upgrade the quality of seafarers, particularly safety culture prior to engage them in the ship and sea environment.
