Objective


To obtain a position in which a highly talented fisherman can pursue a life long dream and gain a professional career aboard a vessel. Would like to gain further experience being a captain of a vessel.


Experience


Commercial Shellfish Harvester-2010-Present

Self-Employed, Freeport, NY: Licensed by New York State with Marine Permit Certification. Maintain accounts with local fish markets and restaurants. Sorted and cleaned marine life and returned undesirable and illegal catch to the sea. Placed catch in refrigerated walk in cooler. Maintained all sanitary requirements to ensure quality. Performed minor mechanical repairs and maintenance when necessary. Endured extreme weather conditions and physical labor.



Captain/Mate-2007-2010-Gulfstream III, Key West, FL: Stood lookout, steering, and engine-room watch. Loaded equipment and supplies aboard vessel by hand or using hoisting equipment. Rigged accessories, such as floats, weights, and markers to nets and lines. Pulled and guided anchor lines and chain onto vessel. Removed fish from nets and hooks. Sorted and cleaned marine life and returned undesirable and illegal catch to the sea. Placed catch in containers and stowed in hold and covered with salt and ice. Washed deck, knives and other equipment, using brush, detergent, and water. Lubricated, adjusted, and made minor repairs to engines and equipment. Secured and removed vessel's docking lines to and from docks and other vessels. Safely maneuvered and docked vessel in narrow channels in all weather conditions day and night. Performed all preventative maintenance duties in order to ensure the vessel passes all coast guard inspections. Performed man over board drills and review safety procedures.



Deckhand/Mate- 2008 - 2009-Florida Fish Finder, Key West, FL: Stood lookout, steering, and engine-room watches.Loaded equipment and supplies aboard vessel by hand or using hoisting equipment. Signaled other workers to move, hoist, and position loads. Attached accessories, such as floats, weights, and markers to nets and lines. Pulled and guided nets and lines onto vessel. Removed fish from nets, hooks and gaffs. Sorted and cleaned marine life and returned undesirable and illegal catch to sea. Placed catch in containers and stowed in hold and covered with salt and ice. Washed deck, conveyors, knives and other equipment, using brush, detergent, and water. Lubricated, adjusted, and made minor repairs to engines and equipment.Secured and removed vessel's docking lines to and from docks and other vessels.
