Runagate Boat Services

May 1990-Present

Owner/operator

Over 60 power and sailboat deliveries primarily on the west coast from Mexico to Canada. Deliveries have ranged from Alaska to Panama, Hawaii, and Florida. Have also filled various relief Captain/Mate positions for research, emergency response, and supply vessels in the Gulf of Mexico with C-Mar, NRC, Ocean Marine Services Inc., TDX, and North American Marine Transportation, LLC.



Majestic American

May-October 2008

Mate on M/V Columbia Queen, a small cruise ship (1600 GT), doing one week cruises on the Columbia River from Astoria, Oregon to Lewiston, Idaho. Duties included Columbia River pilotage and transiting the 8 locks on the Snake and Columbia Rivers with 50 crew and up to 150 passengers.



North American Marine Transportation LLC

June 2005-January 2008

Captain on the 300-ton M/V Freebird working on the Dutch Harbor oil spill. Followed by transiting to Midway Atoll for reef evaluations.

Captain in the Gulf of Mexico on the supply vessel M/V Donald G. doing post-Katrina offshore work.



Seafarers International Union

December 2003-February 2005

A/B Watch on unlimited tonnage ships. Duties included watches at sea, ship security at the dock, and helming ships directed by local pilots.

Moran Towing

February 2003-October 2003

A/B- Mate on grain barge from Mississippi River to Puerto Rico and return.



Atlas Offshore

June 2001-May 2002

Captain of supply boats in Gulf of Mexico up to 150’ servicing oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.



Reliance Fleet Services

January 2000-April 2001

Captain of 120’ aluminum crew boats servicing oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico; bringing personnel, and up to 60,000 pounds of deck cargo to oil rigs.



Emerald City Charters

May 1990-October 1999

Sail Charter Captain- Charters primarily on the Puget Sound, but ranging to Desolation Sound on 40 to 70’ Coast Guard certified vessels with 1-2 crew and up to 49 passengers. Managed all aspects of charter operation and customer service. Seasonal- May thru October.



Gulf of Mexico

September 1996-September 1998

Captain of utility boats serving oilrigs in the Gulf of Mexico.



Windworks Sailing School

May1988-June 1996

Sail instructor and private charter Captain. Group and private lessons on 28’ to 70’ boats covering all aspects of sailing from beginners through certification for bareboat chartering. Duties included but was not limited to dockside operation of charter service, boat checkouts, fleet maintenance and customer service. Seasonal.



Knot to Worry

December 1993-August 1994

Captain of privately owned 70’ motor sailor, Knot to Worry, operated on the west coast of Mexico from Cabo San Lucas to Acapulco. Duties included maintaining boat systems and cosmetics, meal prep, and itinerary planning for entertainment of owner and guests. Brokered sale of yacht to new owner.
